ELEMENT OF BACKGROUND MUSIC...

Greetings...

“...Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything...” - Plato

Music is universal language for all. It is consider as one of non-verbal sign of communication, acknowledge before the beginning of intelligent scholars and educator. Music are cure to pain for some people, best to be the element in expressing freedom of expression and emotion. In cinematography, music is the important to bring the movie into life and to defy hidden message in each of every recorded scene.

Basically, background music is used to add emotion and rhythm to a film. Usually not meant to be noticeable, it often provides a tone or an emotional attitude toward the story and/or the characters epicted. In addition, background music often foreshadows a change in mood. For example, dissonant music may be used in film to indicate an approaching (but not yet visible) menace or disaster.

How to make your own version of music that represent yourself...? How to compose such affected sound of emotion that catch audience attention and play in their memory for years...?

Watch this video and hopefully, it will generate some idea in creating a quality and catchy song. By the way, this video reminds me of my childhood time, learning my English education through television show and songs...

MUSIC IS DIVINE, SOUND IS MAN-MADE...

Greetings...

Creative and excellent arts product such as movie, drama, video clip, advertisement, public service announcement and others creative content contains good cinematography, camerawork and music arrangement. Besides special effects and common gateway interface (CGI), the element of music and sound is important to most of movie maker and producer to bring their product into surrealism feel. Musical sound provides a cue for the listener concerning whether the narrative is intended to be perceived as scary, romantic, funny, disturbing, familiar, comforting other-worldly. The role of music is significantly enhanced by the level of ambiguity inherent in the visual scene. Specifically, the more ambiguous the meaning of visual image, the more influence is exerted by the musical score in the process of interpreting the scene.

Music does influence human emotion and sometimes, it convey the sense of energy to other. With the help of music, people are able to remember or recall past memories and connected it to the long term memory storage. When someone listen to a song that has to do with his or her past memories, it could stimulate the mood and emotion action and reaction of that person, whether they tend to become more subtle and emotional or becoming loud and aggressive.

How important does music affected your life in the past and current...? Try to think one song and create a clip or short video base on it or you can put it as a background music. Oh la la... Video below explain the contribution of musical arrangement and background music in arousing the atmosphere of the movie. Enjoy!

LET'S MAKE A VIDEO: Part 4...

Greetings...

How's your camera practice...? Did you applied all simple tips that I've gave you before...?

Here's another tips to improve your shooting skills and hopefully it will shine your work like a pro...

Good composition requires that you think about the camera's position relative to what's being shot - and what's happening around you. If you are videoing an interview with someone sitting in a chair you don't want the camera shooting from a standing level, looking down on the interviewee. If you are recording a lecture you may want to position to get a student's-eye view - but at the same time you don't want to block the view of any students attending the lecture.

Consider, too what else is in the frame. The presence of a legible poster located behind the person you are videoing may tempt the viewer to read it rather than listen to what is being said. Similarly, if some sort of action is being carried out in the background which isn't directly relevant to what is being said, it could prove distracting. A classic error is to shoot a person such that it looks like a tree or a building is growing out of the top of their head.

The camera person should consider where the video will be viewed. Simply put, the smaller the screen, the bigger the objects should appear in frame. It is common practice in the film and video industry to shoot for television differently than for cinema. In particular, television shooting includes far more close-ups and detailed shots of objects. This is even more important in this day of streaming video and mobile devices where the video may be viewed on very small screens.

Try and keep the compositions interesting. A speaker should almost never be shot speaking in the direction of the camera: it is far better to have them facing, however slightly, to one side or the other. Placing a speaker in the centre of frame is both rather boring and unbalanced looking. It is much better to place them off-center so that there is empty space on the side of the frame they are addressing.
